We are not a government agency
LowCostFinder is an independent website. We do not administer, approve or deny any government or charitable benefit, and we cannot see or change the status of any application. Official programs are run by federal, state, tribal and local agencies and by nonprofit organizations. The only way to apply for a benefit is through the official program or agency.
General information, not advice
Everything on this site is general information provided for educational purposes. It is not legal, financial, tax, housing, immigration or medical advice, and it should not replace advice from a qualified professional who knows your situation. If you need legal help, consider a legal aid organization. For health concerns, speak with a healthcare provider.
Information changes
Eligibility rules, income limits, benefit amounts, application windows, phone numbers and web addresses change often and differ by state, county and provider. Although we research carefully and update our guides, some details may be out of date by the time you read them. Always confirm with the official source linked in each guide before you apply or make decisions.
No guarantee of eligibility or results
Reading our guides does not mean you qualify for any program. Agencies make eligibility decisions based on your individual circumstances, and funding for some programs is limited or may run out.
External links
We link to government agencies, nonprofits and other third-party websites for your convenience. A link is not an endorsement of everything on that site, and we are not responsible for third-party content, services or availability.
Advertising
The site does not currently display advertising. In future, it may display advertising, including ads served by Google AdSense, if approved. Any future ads are labeled and are separate from our editorial content. We do not endorse advertised products or services, and advertisers do not influence what we write. Be cautious of any ad or offer that asks for payment to “unlock” government benefits. Read our guide on avoiding assistance scams.
Emergencies
This site is not for emergencies. In an emergency, call 911. For free referrals to local help, dial 211. If you or someone you know is in crisis, call or text 988.
Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not responsible for any loss or damage resulting from your use of this site or reliance on its content. See our Terms of Use.
